BREAKING NEWS:
Today Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, the Siberian crane “Omid”/ Nadeshda” (Hope) was observed at 12.20 flying around the Ezbaran damgah, then heading towards Sorkhrud, its usual ‘acrobatics’ before departure to Siberia, one day later than last year, unusually early on this 1st warmer (>10C) sunny day after unusually cold early spring, after having spent all this like last winter inside the Fereidoonkenar damgahs. “Omid’s behavior might be reflecting the imminent problems on sustainability of this valuable Ramsar Wetland Site. Thirty (30 ) y rs ago in 1985 on 5 March, this reporter, Ellen, observed and photographed ten (10) Siberian cranes departing FDK on 5 March.
